When I think of meatloaf, the first thought that comes to mind is Will Ferrel’s character of Chaz Reinhold in “Wedding Crashers” He is quite insistent on his mom bringing him meatloaf. I have had meatloaf a few times in my life, but it was not a staple of my family’s meals. I have no “mother’s meatloaf” standard that many Americans may have. This being said, I did not know what to expect when I ordered the meatloaf sandwich at Sandwhich in Chapel Hill.
I was told by several people that I needed to make a visit to Sandwich. It is located on Franklin St next to the McDonald’s (when asking where it was I was told next to the McDonald’s). I had no idea what to order, so I asked the person taking my order, what should I have? She Suggested the meat loaf sandwich.
I looked at the menu and saw this what not a typical meatloaf sandwich. Instead it was Moroccan-spiced meatloaf, roasted tomatoes, crispy bacon,Vermont cheddar, grilled sourdough. I had to give this a try. On a random note, I love the metal trays that the food is presented on.
I was in no way disappointed. I am not an expert in meatloaf, but this sandwich has created a new standard for which I will judge meatloaf. The bacon, cheddar, roasted tomatoes and Moroccan spices all created a flavor combination that I did not expect.
If Chaz Reinhold’s mom makes a meatloaf like this, then I definitely understand why he was so insistent on having some.

I just ate at Sandwhich tonight for dinner! They serve some sandwiches and also some other dishes for dinner… I got their mac and cheese which is so rich and delicious!
Wow based upon how good their meatloaf was I can not imagine how awesome their mac and cheese would be! I will have to try that next time I go.
