Why would you ever buy whipped cream in a can?

Why would you ever buy whipped cream in a can? Home made whipped cream is incredibly easy to make and tastes a million times better than what you find in a can. Really the only reason to ever buy the canned kind is to recreate a scene from a certain movie about high school football in Texas (Mom and Granny, I am referring to the movie Varsity Blues).

Home made whipped cream involves heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla. That and about 10 minutes is all you need.

Ingredients

-1 cup heavy whipping cream

-1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup powdered sugar

You will also need a COLD mixing bowl and whisk attachment or beaters. The temperature of the bowl and mixing device is very important. A cold bowl and beaters/whisk attachment will yield much better results when creating the whipped cream. Put the bowl and beaters/whisk attachment in the freezer for a few minutes before using.

Beat the heavy whipping cream on medium speed for a few minutes until in starts to form soft peaks. Add the vanilla and powdered sugar, and continue to beat until stiff peaks are formed.

That is  all there is to it! There are hundreds of variations that you can make for this basic recipe( add chocolate, orange flavor, lemon flavor, almond, mint… ). I am going to be using variations of whipped cream in the future, so be sure to stay tuned.

Andy Ciordia - The closest I’ll get is using our co2-charger to make insta-homemade whipped cream. At least you control the ingredients. Otherwise you’re spot on, it doesn’t take too much time and the texture and body given to the real deal is worth it.

Taylor - thanks for the comment, I will have to try it with a co2 charger sometime!

Memoria - I never buy the canned stuff either. It really is too easy and much more tasty to have the homemade version or Chantilly. I didn’t know what movie you weren’t talking about either, so thanks for putting it in…even though I still don’t know about the movie haha.

Valen - Every time I have the intention to make whipped cream from scratch, I don’t. I actually prefer things like Cool Whip, and the stuff from the can *Yikes!*
I wish it wasn’t so, I would prefer to treat my body to something that doesn’t have ingredients I can’t pronounce.

Lea - There is whipped cream in America to buy in cans??? Oh my god!
This is one of the interesting differences between the USA and Europe.
Here, there are no recipes for whipped cream, you just whip cream (35%) and that’s it!
I really don’t like sweetened whipped cream, I love the unsweetened. Have you tried that with sweet baked goods or fruits?
