visit to the grandparent’s farm…

Do you know what this is?

You are looking at peaches that are not quite ready to be picked yet. In the Middle of June this will be a completely different story.  A few weeks ago, I was at my grandparent’s farm in North Wilkesboro, NC.

My grandfather used to raise cows and chickens, but now only raises cows. He also has an incredibly green thumb. Here is a look at his garden.

And here is the birthday boy…

My grandfather also has 2 donkeys that he uses to keep coyotes away form the calves. My brother seemed to have a special bond with them…

In the middle of June, I am going to make a return trip to the farm and bring you ripe peaches.

Jenny Tenney - Your blog makes me so hungry! It’s neat that your grandparents have a farm in North Wilkesboro. My family has an old mountain house at Roaring Gap, which is between Elkin and Sparta. Not far from N. Wilkesboro at all. I love it up there. It’s pretty amazing to stand on the land and know my family has been there for generations, and that all the trees we see were planted by my ancestors. We’ve got a couple peach trees as well. Thanks for sharing.
