Why is it that the combination of turkey, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce is reserved only for the 4th Thursday of November? Yes, you can eat this combination any day of the year, but traditionally most americans only eat it Thanksgiving and the following week as leftovers. Maybe it is the leftovers that are to blame ? Does eating turkey and stuffing sandwiches for a week require a year to recover from? Not for me. When Ben told me that there was a sandwich place with a Thanksgiving sub, well you can guess what I had to do…
Half Fast Subs is located on the Hill, right down the Street from The Sink.
When you see this sign, and that view behind you, you are almost there. Look for this building.
If you are one of those people who will only eat the “Gobbler” combination on the 4th Thursday of November then have no fear there are dozens of other subs for you to try, just look at all of those choices on the board!
Some include:
The Shiz– Chicken Tenders Roasted Red Peppers, Swiss, Bacon Basil Mayo
Baba-Booey- Turkey, Grilled Onions, Pepperoni, Swiss, Lettuce, Tomato, Mustard, Mayo
Not in the mood for food? Well how about a MEGARITA!
What is a Megarita? Well it is simply a really large margarita that comes in a pitcher! It is your standard margarita, but just in a large container. After all, aren’t margaritas better in bigger containers? Plus I like the name. It sounds a lot cooler saying I will have a MEGARITA! than a margarita. For those of you more fascinated with the Gobbler here is an up close shot.
Mmmmmm. Turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy and stuffing. It is just like Thanksgiving, but any day of the year!
So if you are in Boulder and in the mood for Thanksgiving, give the Gobbler a try. If you just want a drink then try the Megarita. Or you could do like I did and try both!
Well, two of my very favorite things made their way into this blog post :). Gobblers awesome, and margaritas are one of the few mixed drink that I love. I’ve never had them both in one meal, but why the heck not?!
Thanks for the comment Lauren, yes I felt the same way, a margarita in June only makes sense with a Thanksgiving sandwich! Both were delicious
A perfect meal every time. How can you spend a day in Boulder without a lunch at the Half Fast Subs. I’m going to try the Gobbler with a Megarita next time I’m there!
oh, NOM !!
I am not a huge turkey fan even ON Turkey Day (I like all the trimmings, tho-) and even to me this looks delicious!! I THOUGHT the sando wrapper said “Gobb”… 🙂
I love the name MegaRita. I think I shall start calling them by that name, at least the ones we make at OUR house!! 🙂
thanks for sharing, this place looks fabulous. I have put it on my list for road trippin’
Did you remember the rest of your day after a pitcher of the strong island/marg/magenta? haha, I usually don’t. GO BUFFS!
the gobbler is amazing… did’t this place used to be called something else though? i lived on the hill ’96 – ’00.
