tacos on south congress Austin, TX

On my tour of South Congress Street in Austin, I came across the old Central Feed and Seed building. This building no longer contains feed and seed, but instead has some pretty amazing tacos and home to Guero’s Taco Bar.

I decided to try the Al Pastor which consists of marinated pork, topped with chopped onions, cilantro and pineapple.

I also decided to add guacamole! After all aren’t tacos better with a little bit of guac? I usually say that adding bacon to anything makes it better, but in this case there is already pork on this taco. Adding Guacamole is all these taco needed.

This was an intriguing flavor combination. Onion, cilantro, and pineapple combined with the most amazing meat in the world (pork) makes me wonder what my own pork tacos would taste like? I am thinking some vinegar based NC pulled pork would be used This is an intriguing idea that I just might have to explore further…

Haha whenever I eat tacos I always pile on the salsa. My favourite taco filling combo: a bit of rice, a bit of beans lots and lots of salsa, and… nothing else :) I have to say that I DESPISE cilantro, though…

Then again I don’t usually eat tacos, so I wouldn’t know what tastes good!

Guero’s is my absolute FAVE restaurant in Austin! I make my hubby take me here EVERY time we’re in Austin:) His favorite is the al pator tacos, but my fave is their fish tacos. We both agree that the margas are fantastic! mmmmmm…makes me want to take a weekend excursion soon:)

I have never eaten in G├╝eros (the pronunciation changes without the umlaut on top of the “u”), but I’ve pass by this restaurant every time I go to Vulcan Video. I think the name of the restaurant has deterred me from going. I may have to do some rethinking now haha. Awesome shots!

I’m officially jealous. Hitting the best food spots in the country, eating tacos/bbq/cupcakes, and sharing it with us–love it! But I still wish I were the one doing the traveling! Try Freebirds burritos–I dare you to try to eat it all!!
