Thai in Berkeley

Right now I am in Seattle for the 6th stop on the Tailgating Tour, Washington. Although the cuisine in Washington has a very heavy Asian influence, this dish is from my trip to Berkeley. I will bring you the Asian dishes that I discover in Washington later, but for now I am focusing on what I ate at Cha-Am in Berkeley.

The Waspy Redhead - I always order Pad Thai when I’m trying a new restaurant. I use it as my litmus test to figure out if I like the place or not. I do get more adventurous when I’m ordering from a familiar Thai restaurant. You should try curries, they really are delicious. Green curry with coconut milk is one of my favorites.

Gorgeous photographs as always!

mallory m - pad thai is one of my staples as well…. my other go to is Tom Kha- it’s a coconut milk based soup with chicken and lemongrass- a lot of places add mushrooms as well. its got great spices as well.. i highly reccomend it!

Who can take a family of 6, without it costing $600 just for the event? Do the math folks, its insane, here, I will do it for you. For the four of us:

$30×4 Entree
$25×4 for lunch
$20×4 for a snack later
$40 for the booth games
$30 for two glow in the dark or light toys
$30 for trying some crazy food item you see
$30 ohh more tickets needed.
Parking was $10 btw
Over $400, since about 40% of Americans are in poverty, how about I extend a hell no to most people. The time you would have had was not worth $400, sorry. These things are catered to the wealthy now? No reason in the world to have an $8.5 dollar profit on a damn corn dog, its greed. Ridiculous.

A farmers’ Market in PA and CA

Last Friday, I was in State College preparing for stop #4 on the Tailgating Tour at Penn State. Today I am in Dallas getting ready for tour stop #5 The Red River Rivalry. With this game taking place on the Texas State Fair grounds, my diet will be full of all the fried foods you can think of!  Since I will be eating pretty poorly today, I thought I would bring you a healthier post.

Jared - Nice post on this one too. Always wanted to visit PSU.
My buddy from Ohio State taught me the can-hitting ball-chasing game.
He called it Bowling, and when you retrieve the ball and tap it on the table, you obviously yell out an crude saying to the other team.
My favorite by far is Flip Pong though.
WIth big groups it is the best.
Flip pong relays on each side, and the last person of the relay then shoots a beer pong shot until they make it.
Wash repeat until all beer pong balls are sunk, with successive flip pong relays in between.
Excellent game.

Allison W. - Wow… I’m so glad to see that you had a good time in Hokie Nation. My husband and I both went there and I have had season tickets since I graduated and we make it to all the home games and travel with them often as well (we’re such a Hokie family that our not quite 2-year old daughter points to herself when we ask her where the Hokie is). But, you only found the tip of the tailgating iceberg in Blacksburg. Behind the East-side stands (the student section) is an older area of Blacksburg and lots of amazing tailgates (of course with delicious food!). Hope you make it back soon and GO HOKIES!!!

Gabriel Hummel - Holy shit, all I had was overdone corn bread and chicken that tasted like it came from Randy Savage’s speedo.

A fillet would be as common as a STD free coed.

Jared - I lived in Cochrane, the dorm attached to West End, on the first floor.
You’re right, the quality and variety of this place is exceptional.
Hell of a lot better than the crap they serve on the Army Bases I’ve worked on since.
