National Apple Pie Day…

Happy Friday and Happy National Apple Pie Day!

I was kind of surprised that National Apple Pie Day is celebrated in May. With Apple harvests occurring in the fall, I would have assumed Apple Pie Day would have been in the fall as well. I am not complaining. I love Apple Pie, so really any day works with me to celebrate.

Your traditional Apple Pie comes in a round pan with a flaky crust. This classic and delicious dessert will never go out of style. You can eat Apple pie any time of the day and in a variety of ways.

I love putting cheddar cheese on mine! It might sound strange, but a nice sharp piece of cheddar cheese with a warm slice of Apple Pie is a winning combination. While the traditional apple pie is always a winner, I decided to search the web for some food bloggers who have put a nice twist on this classic All American Dessert. Here are a few of my favorites…

Cathy - An apple pie without the cheese is like a kiss without the squeeze. When I lived in New England, this was the the choice of the natives and I had never heard of it made like this before, your pie looks so good I am off to buy one and have some Ben and Jerry’s on the side!

Lisa - My grandma always says, “Like my dad always said, apple pie without cheese is like a hug without a squeeze!” (Similar to Cathy’s comment above)

Nothing better than Grandma’s homemade apple pie with cheddar cheese! Thanks for making me hungry! :)
