Last Resort Athens,GA

Last Resort Grill is favorite among UGA students and Athens residents. After visiting, I can see why.

Originally a music club, now turned restaurant, the building is full of history. When you combine a historical location with great food you have created a winning combination. What I enjoyed most about Last Resort was knowing where the food came from. Last Resort tries to use as many local vendors as possible when creating its menu. On their website they list the vendors that they use. I am very interested in where the food that I eat comes from, so I was thrilled to see this when I looked at their website. This spring, I will visit local farms in my area (I live in Charlotte,NC) and show you where the food I eat comes from.

I visited Last Resort for lunch and decided to have the daily special. On my visit the special was an “Asian pulled pork sandwich with lettuce, fresh herb onion salad, topped with orange chipotle BBQ sauce and ginger broccoli slaw” I am a huge fan of pulled pork, but had never had an Asian version. The BBQ was moist and tender, while the orange chipotle BBQ sauce and Asian seasonings provided a very different and unique flavor. I really enjoyed the house made vidalia bacon dressing that was on my side salad. It was rich and creamy with a nice onion and bacon flavor to it. If you are interested and are a supporter of local food vendors being used in restaurants, then you have to stop by The Last Resort Grill when you are in Athens.
