In continuing with what I found on a trip to Berkeley a few months ago, I bring you a delicious sandwich from Cafe Intermezzo. Several people told me that I should check out Cafe Intermezzo, so I thought I would eat there for lunch while in Berkeley. I am glad I listened to these suggestions.
Intermezzo is located on Telegraph Ave, just a few blocks down the street from Cal’s campus. The exterior of is encased in large glass windows. This somewhat unassuming place contains some amazing food.
Intermezzo is known for their enormous salads! A salad did look enticing, but when I saw the BLTA on the menu I knew I had to give that a try.
What is a BLTA you ask?
It is a Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Avocado sandwich. I had an amazing BLT in Chapel Hill, but out here on the west coast people love their avocado! I am not complaining, I love avocado.
The Honey Wheat bread at Intermezzo is absolutely delicious. It is worth the trip just to try the bread. This combined with incredibly fresh produce, crisp bacon, and creamy avocado creates a winning combination. The BLT I had on the east coast was pretty amazing, but this one out on the west definitely is a contender. The Honey Wheat Bread and addition of avocado are a nice twist on the traditional BLT.
