Some good friends (Marty & Jessica Powell) took me to the Patterson House for the first time last night, on our way to the Nick Cave (Grinderman) show at The Cannery...it was so unbelievably awesome. I had the Duck Hunter and it tasted like a liquid, Platonic ideal of a clove cigarette...Yum...I saw the Bacon Old Fashioned on the menu, and, I said to myself, "What the fuck?" Now, I own a wine & spirits shop up in Kentucky (Top Shelf Finest Wines & Spirits, Bowling Green, KY, shameless self promotion, thank you), and I have made some infused liquors at home before, so I spent several semi-intoxicated minutes staring at the menu, trying to figure out how in the hell you could infuse bourbon (alcohol) with bacon (fat)...My conclusion was that it must be impossible, and that "Bacon's" must be some super-high end bourbon that I, as a life-long Kentuckian, liquor store owner, and bourbon LOVER had never heard of. Thanks for explaining the fat wash method. My brain is hurting a lot less now. :-)

Thanks for the comment Lee,

That drink is awesome! You are lucky that you got to have one last night. Next time I am in Nashville, I am definitely going to have to get another one! The drink in vegas sounds interesting, I am adding it to my list of things to try.

I had this drink last night, it is incredible! I'm a fan of bacon-infused anything. In Las Vegas they have a great Bacon martini I had at this dive, The Double Down. Ever since that delicious martini, if I see "Bacon-infused" I order it! Great photos here too btw, I was in search of explaining this drink and this was a perfect link to fwd.
