A lime green building with awesome food… Athens,GA

It was not very difficult to find Weaver D’s. I just followed my nose and looked for a large lime green building.

The sign out front reads, Weaver D’s delicious fine foods  “Automatic for the People”. In case you were unaware, the band R.E.M is from Athens and one of their albums is entitled “Automatic for the People”. The inside of Weaver D’s is lined with memorabilia from R.E.M and other local Athens celebrities. The menu is filled amazing southern soul food choices. I decided to sample the fried chicken. I placed my order and then went down a line to another window where I chose my sides. I had to go with two of my favorites, mac and cheese and collard greens.

I was not disappointed. The fried chicken had a crispy outside with juicy white meat chicken on the inside. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy with a nice amount of pepper. The collard greens were awesome! They were tender and picked up the right amount of flavor from the ham hocks they were cooked in. Of course the meal would not be complete without a corn muffin on the side. The people of Athens are lucky to have Weaver D’s. If you are looking for a good meal just follow you nose and look for the lime green building.
