Yes that is me, and I am holding a donut that is bigger than my face! I am in Round Rock, TX (about 25 minutes outside of Austin) at Round Rock Donuts. Ever since seeing this donut on the Travel Channel, I made it one of my goals to have this picture taken. So thanks Jackie for taking the picture! But now more about the donut…
This donut is the equivalent of a dozen normal donuts. You can have it either glazed or covered in chocolate. I decided to go with the glazed version. When you are asked to bring donuts in for work which would you choose? A dozen normal donuts of one massive donut! I think the answer is pretty easy…
BIGGER IS BETTER! After all they say everything is bigger in Texas, so it only makes sense that I found a donut larger than my face! Now you might be asking, “Taylor, I realize that is a big donut but how did it taste? ” After all, what is the point of a super sized average tasting donut. A donut that size should have flavor just as big! This larger version of your average donut tasted just as good as the smaller version (well I would say better, after bigger is better right?) This monster of a pastry had a nice flaky crust that protected the light and airy dough with in. If you are ever in Austin then you must make a trip to Round Rock, so you to can have your picture taken with a donut the size of your face!
Have you been to Round Rock Donuts?
I live in Austin. I’ve never been to Round Rock Donuts, but I have had one. The are delicious!
OMG!! Must. Have. That. Donut!!!! I simply must! Its beautiful 😀
*kisses* HH
Check out the blue bug… he made it in the blog 🙂
Absolutely, and I could kill for some of that orange glaze right now!
I’ve been to Round Rock donuts, and I wasn’t pleased. I tried the glazed version (while still warm/hot) and one other flavor but was so disappointed. I remember going there with my ex-husband after we saw this place on TV. We were both shocked at how NOT great these donuts were. I prefer Shipley’s donuts. The big one looks so cool, though! I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.
i’d go to texas just to see that…amazing.
Oh yes. We have been. My boy are big fans of Adam’s.

Taylor, this is awesome! Thinking it was “one” doughnut, I’d be tempted to eat the whole danged thing.
I live in Round Rock, and while I’m not normally a fan of yeast donuts (prefer the cake ones myself) I do like these. It’s a good thing that it’s easy for me to get them fresh, because that’s how they’re best.
Tip: the drive-through line is often insanely long. The staff is efficient (will come out and walk the car line and take orders) but if you see that, just park and walk in. You’ll probably beat the line. Never mind that you’ll probably also get suckered into buying something else, like their historic teacake cookies. 🙂
Oh why didn’t I wake the bf early to get some Round Rock donuts this morning? One of these days I will get the giant donut!
damn this donut looks really greasy! and its not even formed as a donut its oval not round! wtf!!
